Mass plantings of sea green and old gold junipers

Reducing lawn area and planning two rows of Sea Green Junipers to the NW of five Conoy viburnum. The junipers (10 of them), would be 10 feet from the junipers. NW of the Sea Greens, plan to place Old Gold junipers-2-3 rows. The space is "V" shaped, with the viburnum 'at the top.' This site has a slight slope with the viburnums at the highest point.

In spacing both evergreens, would you suggest that the plants be spaced at their average mature width, or is it better to overlap the average expected width?

My goal is for a mass planting with no pruning requirements, that eliminates all grass cutting in this area. I have seen such plantings in parks/arboretums, but have been unable to find detailed guidlines.

If you have done something similar with any other shrubs, I'd appreciate your outcomes/advice.
