| New Zealand Tea Tree (lepospermum), I'm fairly sure. I love it in spring until the flowers go away. After that, they are pretty nondescript,to my eye. I believe they are shrubs, but I prefer them trained into tree form. White or pink, they are gorgeous in spring. |

| Thanks so much! I was able to find lots of good information on the web now that I had the name. You're right, they're beautiful in the spring, but rather dull the rest of the year. Mine are dreadfully overgrown and top heavy, but I got some good tips on how (and how not) to prune them. Thanks again! |

| There are some Leptospermum that are lower-growing, but most of the first introductions were the tree-type - 12-15ft ish. A lot of the exit ramps in the Bay Area are landscaped with the early types. Definitely not a specimen out of bloom and that one needs some more stuff around it - Pittosporum, Chaenomeles, etc. whatever is appropriate for wherever you live. Dan |
