Lead disease on shrub

We've just moved to a new house and I know very little about what is planted in my yard, especially since I moved in during winter and now spring has sprung. I have some foundation shrubs around my house, I'm not sure what all of them are. But this particular shrub has been losing leaves and has some reddish spots on some, reddish and yellow leaves also. It doesn't have much new growth on it compared to nearby shrubs. Can anyone tell me what this shrub might be, as well as what might be the culprit?

for what it is worth.. looks like common winter damage up here in MI ...

reminds me of a rhodie.. but i dont know all your sub tropical potential in TN ... [gardenia???]
