Need advice about planting shrubs

I have about 15 shrubs that need to go into the ground. The shade ones include azalea, rhodie, gardenia and tea olives.

Then I have several which will be exposed to full afternoon noon (noon til sunset). These are parsons juniper and Purple Diamond Loropetalum.

I'm in zone 7, central NC, and it gets really hot here, so the full afternoon sun shrubs will soon be faced with seriously hot conditions.

I know fall would be a better time to plant them, but I want (really want!) to plant them now. If I water them religiously, will planting them now work out? The hottest time of year here will be July and August, so they'll have June, which should be hot but not scorching, to settle in a little bit.

They'd be much happier in the ground than attempting to hold them in their nursery pots successfully until fall. Much greater risk from heat and water stress in a container than in the ground - in warm weather, a container can dry out in a matter of a few hours. FWIW, landscapers and others DO plant all through the growing season and into summer in all areas of the country successfully - business doesn't stop just because the weather gets warm :-) Just keep a close eye on any watering needs. And that could be daily checking to see if the soil and rootball is sufficiently moist.

Heck, landscaping doesn't stop in the summer time even in the deep south! Go ahead!
