Inner leaves of Neon Flash spirea turning yellow!

I planted a Neon Flash dwarf spirea last year. It leafed out beautifully this spring and has developed flowers ready to open. But when I was making my garden rounds yesterday afternoon, I was mystified to see many of the inner leaves turning yellow. The spirea is planted in good topsoil which has been enriched with Plant-tone and Osmocote. It is watered regularly and has grown significantly since last fall when I planted it.

What could be wrong with my spirea?

my various spirea are in glacial sand.. are never watered.. and never fert'd and planted in native sand ... cant beat them back with a machette ...

yellowing leaves suggest over watering ... are you doing such.. when they need it.. or all the time ...

is the native soil clay.. did you plant in a clay cauldron??

is there a lawn that was sprayed...

favor us with a pic if you can

was there any frost or freeze event.. since it leafed out???
