| I moved two of my spireas (goldmound and anthony waterer) earlier this week. Unfortunately though, the goldmound is shocking pretty badly. It was a beautiful shrub but now the majority of the leaves are shriveling and dying off. It was such a healthy plant and I'm afraid I'm going to lose it. I moved it in the evening when the weather was cooler and I've kept it watered but the weather has been extremely warm.
Does anyone have experience with transplanting spireas who can advise me on what to expect? Do goldmounds take longer to acclimate? Any suggestions on how I help it at this point? Thanks! |

| you should have done this, before it leafed out.. to avoid the uglies .. and the stress ... that being said.. if you can figure out how to kill a spirea... let me know.. lol ... just live with it.. water it.. but dont drown it... let it nearly dry in between waterings.. and it will survive... but it might not look great until next year ... and next time.. do this as soon as the ground thaws.. or in april .. or late fall ... oh well.. live and learn.. ken |

| Don't worry Ngattaca! I transplanted 6 spirea from my front yard to my back yard in 2007, and MUST tell you they looked awful when we did it in April of that year. We live just outside of Boston, btw. 3 years later, they are larger, get lots of morning sun and seem incredibly happy where they were re-located. So, just water, allow to dry out, and water again. Yours should be fine. |
