I just bought 4 eastern snowball viburnum to line the front of my house. How far from the house should I plant them? Thanks. -marielle042

will you need to paint the house??? wood sided??

wash windows????

factor in such when deciding..

at the link.. you can see the potential for these VERY LARGE SHRUBS.... i would think at least 10 feet .... if you are willing to rejuvenate them every few years ...

if you dont have that much space.. you might want to return them ...

RE: how far from house to plant

Hi Ken,
Thank you for your quick response. I definitely have the space height-wise, my windows are about 12-15 ft from the ground. I've actually been looking for something that reaches about 10 ft tall, to hide all of my foundation. But I'm a little worried if I must plant them 10 ft away from the house, as I don't think I have the space for that.

Most resources say their ultimate size is 10-15' wide, which means their width is expected to be ~5-8' out from the trunk on ~all sides.

So 9-10' gives enough room to keep off siding, perform maintenance on the structure, and not have to chop the plant to perform these tasks. If you don't have absolute minimum 8' but 10' is better then this plant is inappropriate for your needs.

the point of the windows question .. is where a ladder must be placed.. not the height of the window .. .. we must factor in house maintenance ...
