Flowering currant - flower bud hardiness??

Is anyone out there growing any variety of Ribes sanguineum (Flowering currant) in zone 5 or 6? Are your flower buds killed by the winter cold some years? Have you happened to notice at what minimum winter temperature that seems to happen? It's a great shrub for me, grown from seed and having solidly made it through the last four winters but with no flowers. This is the first year it's been mature enough to flower but only the flower buds <8" off the ground survived. Any feedback would be appreciated!!

I'm growing it and have had great success. It is not because of me...I found the poor thing had half of it's soil washed away and the roots were exposed to our awful ice storms and everything this winter.

It has flowered and is full of unripe berries and is only about 1.5 feet tall!

I was very impressed. I'll try to find the tag and see what variety it is.
