Young Lady Smoke Bush

I have two young lady smoke bushes growing in a mixed perenial bed. I was wondering if I could train them into a small tree. Perhaps multi-stemmed. Has anybody tried this? Any one grow this shrub?

I have one but it has been in the ground for less than a year (I think that it is a fairly new introduction). I bought and placed it according to the descriptions that it was smaller, shrubbier, more compact, etc than the other varieties. If indeed that is so, you can try pruning yours up the way one can do with Cotinus, but 'Young Lady' is supposed to top out at about 5' and her natural growth inclination may not lend itself as much to the kind of pruning that you are suggesting as some of the others. In any case, you'd want them to be mult-stemmed. Anyone have one long enough to get a better sense of the growth pattern? 'Young Lady' is supposed to be a prolific bloomer. I'd love to hear more about it as well.

that only leaves how much work it will take.. and your attention span ..
