on my variegated.. i have a bunch of sprouts coming up a few feet from momma ... for the life of me.. the term is escaping me in this coffee buzz ..

when would you take them from momma..

would you pot them...

i could put them in the nursery bed .... under irrigation ...

they are about 8 inches tall.. this year seems like the perfect time to do it...

would you prefer fall in my z5???

TIA

ken

RE: propagating lilac

Personally I'd wait until fall and let them continue to develop their own roots. You could cut a few of them with a sharp spade to hasten the process, now-ish should be OK. I'd nursery some of them and pot others to give away - only pot up what you know you can give away.

I have a little sucker on my variagated lilac. It showed up last year . At that point I cut the root between it and the main bush and let it get it's own roots and will dig it up and transplant it this year.
