| I have an English Laurel (I had thought wrongly that it was the low growing Otto Leukens) which as a foundation plant is now too high at 5 ft.
I have had success transplanting large rhodos - the question is whether an English Laurel has a root presentation which would make it feasible to transplant. The alternative would be for a massive cutback and a bare looking plant for a not inconsiderable amount of time. |

| you have much experience moving things all year long .. but for most neophytes.. i would suggest waiting until dormancy in fall ... to increase the odds of success ... to make it more foolproof ... its all about PROPER AFTERCARE.. which i think you are good at.. but aftercare in fall is so much easier ... chet.. its a shrub.. do whatever you feel comfortable with ... it is not exotic in any sense of the word .. i guess what it really comes down to.. is it going to drive you insane.. all summer long.. if you leave it there.. if so.. just move it.. and who cares what happens to it.. you will be happy it is gone from that spot ... good luck ken |

| slightly more robust root system than rhoddies so a larger ball. but easily done just the same. assuming no soil issues re: ability of a ball to hold together i may even hand dig it as opposed to machine, its small enough and easy enough. |
