| I'm having trouble utilizing some of these in the landscape. I grew about 5 of them from seeds about 5 years years ago. About every year I end up moving them around the yard. My problem is where to place this shrub. If anyone out there has these, how are you using it- foundation, mixed shrub border, specimen? Second question is do you prune them?
The latest place I moved them to is a large bed on the side of the house as sort of an informal foundation plant. |

| Because they get big and sprawl-y, I would plant them in full sun where they can achieve some growth. That would not be a foundation plant (because they really should be at least 5 feet away from the foundation to achieve their spread). A mixed full sun shrub border would be good, but allow for the mature size. |

| Never pruned mine. I use it as an informal surprise specimen behind my garage where my yard slopes down. It is under a neighbor's Black Walnut and seems quite happy. tj |

| As mentioned above they are used more for a backdrop for shorter plants or used informal / naturalizing...definitly not a fondation plant do to the spreading nature. |
