 o
Beauty Bush odd shape: pruning?

One of my Beauty Bushes (Kolkwitzia amabilis) has an odd shape. It looks like a chunk was hacked out of it and is kind of lopsided. I never pruned it but if I prune it down to the part that looks like it's missing, will it grow back in fuller and fill in that area? When do you prune Beauty Bush anyways?

Beautybush is an old fashioned shrub that usually responds well to "rejuvenation" or, basically cutting the entire plant off 6-12" above ground level. If it is well established it should re-grow nicely and fairly quickly with a more even shape. The ideal time to do that would be just after flowering.
