| I have, in my neighborhood a plant (hedge) that from a distance looks almost white with flowers, but up close it looks a lot like Privet but the leaves are variegated and the new growth is white. The under (mature) leaves are variegated and the same size as regular Privet.
I googled "Variegated Privet" and found that there is such an animal but none of the articles mention the Spring growth coming in as white. I'm wondering if this is a plant similar to Privet or is it actually Privet. |

| There is also the 'Hakuro-nishiki' variegated willow. That has become fairly prevalent at outlets. But there should be some pink sections on that one. |
|
| Does that variety start out almost white and then the leaves change to variegated? |
|
| Yes, on some branches. Many other variegated plants also display portions of entirely non-green foliage. Try searching the cultivar name for photos and more discussion. The privet you were thinking of might have been Ligustrum sinense 'Variegatum'. |
