I want to get a radiant crabapple tree and plant mango tango potentilla around it. Do you think all the watering the new tree will need will harm the potentilla?

I've seen shrubby cinquefoil growing in a stream in the Rockies. Newly planted specimens may be quite subject to wilting and then shriveling if not watered diligently.

the bigger problem i see.. is how you will be able to remove all the crab suckers.. with the shrub there .... unless they are planted 3 to 5 feet from the tree how far were you thinking of planting from the trunk ... and how much water do you think a tree or a shrub needs ... except for the year of transplant.. neither of these plants EVER need water ..... and in the transplant year.. you let the soil nearly dry in between waterings.. so one should not affect the other ... learn how to water PROPERLY ... is my best suggestions ... and then plant whatever you want .. wherever you want good luck ken

I've seen a great many flowering crabapple trees here that were not suckering madly.
