Spiraea japonica 'Galen'

This is probably the first spirea that stood out to me from a foilage and flower color combination.

I can't seem to find anything on fall color. You'd think it would be the typical red fall color but the fact the introducer doesn't list any fall color has me curious.

I can't find anything either but I did plant 2 of them so I'll let you know this fall.

After quite a bit of digging I did find one source saying they get the typically red fall color.

I think I like this one more than my former favorite, Tor Spirea.

Tor is my favorite too!!! I just love it. I have a low hedge of it made with 13 plants that I got on clearance last fall for $2 each in 5 gallon containers. It looks soooo pretty. I wanted to buy them all summer but couldn't justify the $35 price they were asking bc I needed so many. I almost fell over when I found them so cheap after the leaves had fallen off. They bounced back and are beautiful in bloom right now and I love the leaves when not in bloom too. Love it! My FAVE Spirea for now :)

Just you wait for the fall color!

I just bought the new Double Play 'Big Bang'. What a pretty orange the leaves are! I don't usually like orange in the garden but it's beautiful. I couldn't resist. It's supposed to have the biggest flowers yet on a spirea. Now to figure out where to put them!
