Yes, you can cut them down to about 8" from the ground and they SHOULD re-grow just fine.

I'd recommend cutting half of the benches this year, half next year.

And while you're at it, dig up all the "babies" it made that you don;t want!

I probably gave away 200 forsythia babies this year....

So... If I were to cut half etc. do I leave the remaining half the height they are now? I am pretty sure they will just fall over or look pretty goofy with a few tall branches. I am struggling because the neighbors like the buffer (as do I) but they are falling over etc. at an increasing rate.
