 o
help needed quick!

Hello -

I have some VERY out of control forsythia bushes that I CANNOT take anymore. They are ~9 feet tall with only leaves/growth on the top ~1/4, the rest is a very woody stem and they are falling over like crazy now. This is a border between a neighbor and driveway so I need them somewhat in control. Should they be cut all the way down and start over? I have a couple of pictures, I will try to figure out how to post them now...

I am ready to prune/cut tonight any help would be appreciated!

Thank you!

Yes, you can cut them down to about 8" from the ground and they SHOULD re-grow just fine.

I'd recommend cutting half of the benches this year, half next year.

And while you're at it, dig up all the "babies" it made that you don;t want!

I probably gave away 200 forsythia babies this year....

So... If I were to cut half etc. do I leave the remaining half the height they are now? I am pretty sure they will just fall over or look pretty goofy with a few tall branches. I am struggling because the neighbors like the buffer (as do I) but they are falling over etc. at an increasing rate.

Is there an easy way to post a pic?

Thank you for the quick replies!!
