Do the trunks of standard shrubs keep growing taller?

So I'm looking to buy a standard (tree form) hydrangea. I've never had a grafted standard shrub like this before, and I was wondering if the tree trunk height where the graft is will always stay at that height, or does the tree part keep growing taller.

Also, does anyone have a standard hydrangea, like a Pee Gee or other type? How does it do? I worry about ending up with the popsicle look!

trees extend to height.. at the branch ends..

the trunk does not elongate ..

the graft will always be right where it is now ..

ps: ??? you are thinking of buying a shrub in a Popsicle shape.. and worried it will look like a Popsicle ...???? .. you lost me in this curve????

Standards only look like popsicles when the shrub at the top is too small for the height of the trunk. So I'm hoping that the shrub at the top gets good and large to AVOID the popsicle look!
