There would be no point as the male plants do not produce fruits and the female plants are planted because they do produce them. Cutting out the spent flowerheads would take those away.

Thank you bboy. Do they just fall off? It's just that the skimmia doesn't look to pretty when the blooms are all dried up.

the only point of a flower.. is to produce a seed .... inside a berry perhaps ...

if as bboy said.. the males dont berry .. then the flowers will abort and fall off ...

and what is the point of having a female set berries.. if you cut off the flower.. before the berries come ...

you need more plants!!! .. so you can let those you have... finish their cycle ...

even the ugly dying flowers are part of its cycle.. enjoy the show as it varies over the season ...

i bet you have an absolutely clean house too.. come on.. admit it... you want to clean the garden.. before the plant has finished showing off .. man o'live .. we live in different worlds .. lol .. i hope you have a sense of humor .... lol

hahaha...ken - you've got me all figured out. Yes. I have a good sense of humor and yes, my house is spotless. I'm a total clean freak. I even take my dh's dinner plate before he's finished eating. His name is Ken too....go figure!

I haven't cut the faded blooms off my skimmias and I won't. Geesh!
