Shrub ID Help

I have another shrub I'm in need of ID'ing. We moved to this lovely home with huge amounts of plant material that I'm slowly trying to ID. This very nice shrub is up on my front slope and it is beautifully in bloom right now, with a very interesting flower. I would love to know what these are. They are drought tolerant for sure. Look sort of like Manzanitas, but the flower is definitely not a Manzanita-like flower. Can anyone ID this lovely shrub for me?

The pics are there, Dan :-) I think you had problems viewing my photos before with your browser. Switch to IE and see if you can see my two photos.

Pineapple guava. When pollinated, produces a guava-like fruit. Otherwise, the edible petals of the flowers are sweet-tasting.

Thanks, bboy! I actually have a ring of these very beautiful shrubs - about 5 plants all together. Just love the flower, very exotic looking, and they do so well on the slope with very little water. I'm going to plant more of these on my backyard slope. I've got about 20 or so shrubs I'm trying to ID, so I'll continue to post one at a time. Really appreciate the help!

!

There are also in-text links and ads to the right in IE!

Agreed with bboy. These get very large so space accordingly, and certain years you'll get lucky and get fruit.
