Thanks for the quick replies, i will have to wait til the a.m. to get a pic, just tried and the way the sun is hitting it, you just cant really see...the best branch that is leafing out is from an old sucker, and nothing new is coming up, however I did see some leaves budding from some older branches today, very slow going... :(

How much sun does it get? And when? Has it become shaded in recent years? It has obviously been a healthily growing shrub, so have you noticed a decrease in growth and flowering over the last couple of years?

You said that some of the older branches are starting to leaf out, so if it were me, I'd just wait a couple of weeks until I saw no more new growth, and then cut off and out what is dead and see what I had left. The only time I saw a mock orange dwindle away was when surrounding trees grew over it and left it in deep shade.

Thank you, I will do just that, i am hoping for the best...it gets early am, late pm sun...I have found what i believe is a seedling, and am hoping it is from this one, i had a minnesota mock orange in the back, a neighbor cut it back..but thats another story...
