its either lush spring growth.. and the leaf is just not fully unfurled..

or frost damage .. and yes.. it can hit one plant ...

its way to early.. for bug populations to be high enough to have any major impact.. in most of the country ... especially with this long cool spring ...

V are so bulletproof.. i doubt bugs.. but for the 8th plague of the bible ... will ever need bug remedies ...

Thanks! It's not the leaves unfurling, since it's the oldest leaves on the plant that are the most affected. Younger leaves look better. Frost is possible I suppose, but we haven't had a frost here for quite a while - I don't think the leaves were out when we had our last one. One thing I'm wondering about is herbicide damage. This plant is near my property line, and who knows what my neighbors use on their lawn. Does it look at all like it could be herbicide damage?

The other thing that seems possible, based on some pictures I saw, is thrips. But I haven't read of them on v. nudums, which like you said are supposed to be bulletproof...
