I have a 10 year old common snow ball viburnum. This year the leaves were all green but a little sparse. Within a few days the leaves all turned brown. I scrapped a few branches and underneath the bark there is green - so the bush is alive. How can I get it back to life. It gets about 8 hours of sunshine, I put some 5-10-5 fertilizer on it. I didn't see any bugs flying off the shrub. Would appreciate any help and thanks in advance. I didn't over fertilize it.

So it did turn brown after you fertilized? By the way the ratio you are using probably insn't quite right, you might want to see about sampling your soil and having it analyzed before using much more 5-10-5 there. Be careful with the 10 (phosphorus) in particular.

NEVER fertilize a stressed tree or shrub .. as bboy suggested.. you may have stressed it further ... figure out the problem.. and fix that.. and the problem is NOT FOOD ... otherwise it would not have grown for 10 years ... and double dosing food is definitely not going to help ... with or without a soil test ... and though that is a great idea ... again.. it would not have grown for ten years .. if the soil was an issue ... we need some pix to really help you .. check out the link ... do you or the neighbor have the lawn sprayed???? how big is it.. has it ever been rejuvenation pruned???? in the ten years.. has it gone from full sun to full shade.. as the other trees have shaded it .. etc ... you have given us no facts .. but for leaf loss ... and that isnt much to go on ... and it might matter to know which viburnum ... ken
