First off I would move them where the snow won't injure them when it falls off the roof.

Why do you want them to grow evenly? They will fill in eventually.

my best idea is to love them for what they are .. instead of forcing some preconception of how they should look .. a lot of us hardcore.. actually work under the 'weirder the better' theory.. rather than a bunch of duplicate soldiers lined up in a row .... and snow load can make some interesting plants .. lol ..

if you dont like them.. get rid of them ...

but before you do that.. hack one up.. and see if you can train it back to what you want ...

w/o a pic there is not much else to suggest ..

life is too short.. to deal with plants that are not pleasing you .... be done with them if they are irritating you...
