'Lime Gold' Barberry

I came across this plant and it looked fairly intersting. The added benefit of brilliant scarlet to red fall color made it more appealing so I wanted to look further into it.

Any expericene with this plant?
Does the two tone effect last in the spring and then die out? Does it really have good fall color?

If this is a Japanese barberry, as it almost surely would be check to see the weed status of this species in your state before planting any.

Most Japanese barberries produce noticeable fall color.

Are sure you don't mean Berberis thunbergii 'Lime Glow'? This is a green version of B.t. 'Rose Glow' with mottled/marbled new growth. The heaviest mottling will occur only on new growth - older growth will be a solid green (very similar to 'Rose Glow'). Fall color is OK but not nearly as intense as the red leafed forms.

'Lime Glow' is certified as rust resistant, which may be a bonus but all of this species are suspect as invasive in wide parts of the country, including much of the midwest (listed as invasive in Wisconsin).

Oops, I murdered that one. If the fall color is OK, I'll definitely pass.

I have Berberis thunbergii 'Crimson Pygmy'...its never changed color. Is it supposed to get fall color?

Saw some at a local outlet, it had a touch of leaf spot. Otherwise I like the white variegated new growth, which these did not have yet.

Although I have seen it rather often at local outlets here, when you visit the web site of the wholesale nursery listed as having originated it, they do not appear to be offering it.

For a fall color picture taken in Oregon...

Here is a link that might be useful: Berberis thunbergii Lime Glow - Mottled Green Barberry

The ones I saw where very attractive as well. I'm afraid I'd gorw tired of it unless it had another feature...like fall color. I came across that pic as well...wasn't sure how representative that would be for my zone.
