| I'm referring to berberis lologensis. If you've never heard of this shrub, google it. It is the most beautiful barberry I've ever seen.
I REALLY like the look of this shrub, but I can't find anywhere in the US where I can buy it. Can someone help me find this. It's a shame that no one sells this. It truly is a beautiful plant. |

| It is beautiful and seems to be widely available in Europe so it may eventually make its way to the US. A barberry of this color (and with such viscious thorns) very likely has a good deal of b. darwinii in its hybrid background. That would suggest limited hardiness for much of the US. Even Zone 7 would probably be borderline. |

| It is listed as hardy to zone 6, likely due to the increased hardiness of one of its parents, B. linearifolia. Darwin's barberry has a very similar appearance, including the heavy, orange colored flowering and arching habit. But I'd suspect neither would very happy or longlasting in zone 5. And IME, all evergreen barberries have ferocious thorns! Not friendly plants :-) |
