It is evergreen and grows in partial shade.

If this is not a privet, I will be amazed.
And when the flowers open, the powerful odor might explain why the plant was planted around the out-house. Growing up in the city, the odor is nostalgic, as it was super-common,as a hedge, there. But some find it totally obnoxious.

also how tall should I expect it to grow. I have no idea how old it is, it was already planted when i bought the house.

Looks like Waxleaf Privet, Ligustrum japonicum.

An invasive in much of the southeastern US, but still being sold by nurseries like hotcakes. Cut off the flowers after they bloom to prevent berries/seeds from forming (birds spread the plant by eating berries).

Can get up to 20 feet if left alone. I don't like the smell myself.
