| All the web info says sun to light shade, but has anyone tried it in medium to heavy shade? Thx much.

| Mine are in almost total shade and doing fine. The site is also rather dry once the rains subside. Have to keep them watered well if in a dry site till they get established Nice plant for shade as it brightens things up a tad. |
|
| I grew one in mostly shade too. They just don't have as a heavy margin in that exposure. Here is a grouping in full sun, they had very little green in them. |

| Love the photos, I just got one that I'm debating where to put, I read they aren't too fussy (of what?), I like varigated things... |
|
| All of mine really struggled for a full year. On the second year, after a nice pruning in late winter they took off nicely. The pic above is west exposure with mainly all day sun. |

| Just catching up, thank you! I have mine in marginal area, clayish soil on bank, hoping to use for erosion control. Is the bark supposed to look, odd, at base, like peeling or something? |
