transplanted lilac dying

I transplanted a 2 year old lilac bush about 3 weeks ago. I think I either planted it in bad soil and/or in too wet of a spot.

It has several good sized branches and a small shoot growing horizontally from the bottom. All the plant except this shoot has died. Can I cut all off except this shoot?

I read on another gardening site to add Epsoma Plant-tone around the drip line about 4 inches deep and water. I think it was too late to save it though.

Is there anything that can be done to save this? I really want to do what I can as it will have yellow blooms and I have been so excited waiting for the time it would bloom, sure hope it can be helped.

Sorry if this is in the wrong discussion, I couldn't figure out the way this works and really need to get this answered before it completely dies.

Thank You,
