transplanted lilac dying

I transplanted a 2 year old lilac bush about 3 weeks ago. I think I either planted it in bad soil and/or in too wet of a spot.

It has several good sized branches and a small shoot growing horizontally from the bottom. All the plant except this shoot has died. Can I cut all off except this shoot?

I read on another gardening site to add Epsoma Plant-tone around the drip line about 4 inches deep and water. I think it was too late to save it though.

Is there anything that can be done to save this? I really want to do what I can as it will have yellow blooms and I have been so excited waiting for the time it would bloom, sure hope it can be helped.

Sorry if this is in the wrong discussion, I couldn't figure out the way this works and really need to get this answered before it completely dies.

Thank You,
Kimmers48

hi

right forum ...

wrong advice.. do not fertilize it ...

you moved it about 3 months too late ... extreme shock is not surprising ...

as long as that one sprout it can live.. if you water it properly ... letting it nearly dry in between deep waterings ... it should live ...

Ditto what Ken said. Keeping a close eye out on soil moisture may be able to save your plant. Don't let the rootball (surrounding soil and the soil in the rootball) dry out. Do let the surface start to dry in between deep waterings. You may need to dig down or poke a finger down into the soil to monitor rootball moisture.
