| I would say that your lilacs should be blooming by now. Make sure that you're not doing any of the following ... 1.) Pruning after June (or so). Lilac place their next season's flowering buds soon after flowering in May. If you prune too much later than than, you may be cutting off next year's bloom buds. 2.) Fertilizing with a high nitrogen fertilizer. Lilacs, generally, don't need fertilizers ... and the wrong fertilizer could be stimulating foliage growth ... at the expense of bloom. There are other reasons why your lilacs might not bloom ... see the link below to peruse these ... If nothing else works, try driving a spade into their root zone in a few places. This might spur them to try to reproduce next year, of which flowering is a part. |
