Any East Coast experience with Rhodo. ponticum?

Does anyone in the Mid-Atlantic have any exerience growing Rhododendron ponticum 'Variegatum'? It looks to be an interesting evergreen even if it doesn't bloom well.

I know it's a pest across the pond and maybe even in the Pac. NW.

Too dry in summer here most places for it to go wild - we don't have the evenly distributed precipitation of Britain. The cultivar is being sold and grown here, the marginal variegation is pretty narrow.

Thanks. We have good precip here or can water for the few dry periods. But I wonder if it can take the heat and humidity here.
