 o
Harbor Belle Nandinas

I posted this last night, but cannot find the post. Perhaps it didn't go through, so I am trying again.

I LOVE nandinas, however I am in zone 5. Everywhere I read tells me they are a zone 6 shrub. I am wondering if it might be realistic for me to consider planting Harbor Belle (the small shrub) in a container to keep on my patio/porch, and bringing it into the garage in the wintertime? I just LOVE these, and am trying to find any way possible to have one. If it's not possible, it's just not...but I thought this might be my only chance.... I have major zone envy for nandinas. And here they are invasive in the south... =(

I am in far southern WI, just outside of Madison.

Thanks for any opinions. Or....here's the senario. My house is sort of "L" shaped. Meaning, the garage is in front of the house. The garage is on the west side (where the winds come from), and my front porch is on the east side of the garage, in the corner of the L. If kept in a protected area, against the house, might it be able to winter there if not kept in the garage? I have read though that the harbor belle can take some shade, so hoping the garage would be ok for wintering?

Angie
