| Ok, probably technically a tree, it's an emerald green arborvitae, it's just above knee high on me now.
I feel really bad. I was changing some landscaping around, and I had two of these, and decided I wanted to do something different in that spot. A friend is also doing a large project in her yard, so I asked her if she wanted these nice little trees...she said yes. So, we set up a day, I dug them up, and she picked them up right away with the intentions of planting them right away. Didn't happen. So, they weren't properly potted, she was going to plant them right away! so they sat...in pots, only with the dirt that surrounded their roots, and was on the shovel. After a couple weeks, I was over by her house to see the work she'd done, and I saw the arborvitaes. She felt really bad...and I helped her scope out her yard, as she'd decided she didn't want them where she thought she did....anyway, long story short, in the end, she didn't have a place she wanted to put them afterall. So, we agreed we didn't want them to die, I took them back. Another friend of mine took one, hoping to rehab it, and I have one. I believe they were out of the ground 2.5-3 weeks. Any chance of saving it? I replanted right away, with a mixture of existing soil and miracle grow. When you open it up, there's quite a bit of green inside, so I'm thinking there may be a chance. I came here, just to see if there's something I should do that I'm not doing. I feel bad...they were beautiful little trees when they left here. She feels bad too....but we'll see what we can do for them. I've got it planted in an open, sunny spot...keeping it watered. I didn't use any of the soil that was in the pot...when I pulled it out of the pot, the soil was mud (she had been watering it), but it smelled nasty...like rot. I was told by my friend who took the other one that hers did not smell like this. |

| Thanks Ken, I appreciate the input. It was perfectly alive and well three weeks ago. Left in a pot, not planted well, but watered (when she remembered) during that time.... Darn. I hoped I could save it. I had one that got just nasty, brown, black, turned out it was from salt burn....thought it was dead. I cut off the bad stuff...it came back eventually...so I thought there might be some hope with this one. I feel bad ever digging it up...but she wanted it, and said she was going to plant it.... well, I don't have the heart to dig it back up yet. It's an eye sore to look at, yes....it sticks out like a sore thumb....but I just don't have the heart to yank it out....yet. I'm bummed. |
