| I planted 8 Viburnums recently and they all seem to be doing well except for Shoshani. After quite a bit of googling, i'm assuming my problem is aphids. The plant looks healthy except for the newest leaves. They are slightly deformed and somewhat crinkly looking. The lower leaves are perfect. The plant was slightly droopy yesterday in CT's almost 100 degree weather but a long soak with the hose helped that.
Anyways, is it ok to simply cut off these deformed leaves? Should I leave them on? Is it ok to prune during excessively hot weather? Thanks in advance. I have gotten so much excellent advice here :) |

| If you want to pull an individual leaf off here or there, that's fine. Just don't go cutting any branches off. If you have aphids you should be able to see aphids. How big are these newly planted trees and are you sure it's not just stressed out new trees? tj |

| Greenhaven, other creatures cause that crinkling besides aphids. For the most part, if you remove one and carefully inspect the insides of those little blisters, you will see the mites or aphids. We 'd like to see a picture. Deformed leaves caused by aphids is pretty common with viburnum. I always get them on mine and simply pinch them off...the leaves, not the aphids. Keep those new plants well watered! |
