On your Virburnum trilobum- if you don't see flowers, you won't see berries. ;-) Give it time. Good chance other trilobums are around to pollinate.

Auburn University says this about Ilex pollination:
"...pollination and berry set would usually occur with males and females separated up to 1/8 mile (660 feet), while 1 mile would be problematical, and 3 miles would be very unusual but possible..."

Thanks for your help on the Winterberry, I should have no problem with pollination. My Virburnum trilobum is a Redwing, does this change anything as far as needing another type of virburnum to pollinate? I've read that getting two of the same species wouldn't work, is this true? Would a Wentworth do the trick? I've been thinking of purchasing one?

Same cultivar is a problem, the same species is fine. Wentorth would work but with trilobum native to all of Maine I doubt pollination would be a problem.
