My boxwoods are unfazed by any kind of insect or fungus, even here in muggy, buggy NoVA. These plants can live a VERY long time on almost total neglect, so instead of spraying and fertilizing, I think what I would do is mulch around the base with compost or horse manure, then a layer on top of that of whatever mulch you like to look at - pine bark, shredded cedar, whatever, and I'd leave them alone. The hedge looks great!

See that's the deal, I'm so pleased with how it's doing that I'm terrified something bad will happen to it. I know that saying on the one hand it's thriving and on the other being concerned for it's welfare seems silly, but you know where I'm coming from I'm sure.

I just don't want anything to happen to it. :)

That's a tough plant ....mine grow like weeds and are unfazed by about anything. No pests...don't spray if you don't have any probs. There shouldn't be with boxwoods.

PS I worry about our honeybees........they're in trouble.

cobalt: FWIW I had boxwoods at the previous home I lived in and they did great with what Leslie suggests.

Don't use Holly Tone. It ain't recommended for boxwoods from what I've read. (Probably isn't too bad but the people recommending against it said boxwoods don't need acid fertilizer.)

Plantone would be good stuff in place of Holly Tone. Maybe some Milorganite too.

Jant: I had two swarms of honey bees come through the yard this year!! Thousands of them!! They probably went to the nearby forests.

Here's a picture of our transplanted Boxwood. I moved three of several from an area that nobody sees to an area where everyone can see our backyard garden. They've been in the ground for about three years. Not sure why they're changing color but seem to still be thriving.
