Trimming Yews

I have some overgrown yews that I would like to prune so they are about 1/3 smaller. I wasn't sure it would be harmful to prune them now since it is pretty warm here already. Any advice would be appreciated.

RE: Trimming Yews

Hard pruning (taking 1/3, for example) of yews is usually best in early spring and pruning for shape is best in early-mid summer (mid July here). Having said that, yews are pretty tough animals and you probably could do it now.
