They came from two different nurseries, but both had MC growers' labels on them. It looks like one already flowered before we bought it (both were planted Memorial Day weekend). And maybe they were raised in different light conditions. But they look quite different IRL. If the image doesn't show, I'll keep working on it. Having a lot of trouble with GW and photobucket recently. |

| Here's a zoomed in photo if it shows. |

| They both could be MC. The size of the leaves is correct, just the coloring clearly is different. It looks like a time of season difference. It looks like they trimmed the spent blooms off (or just plain trimmed the plant for some reason) which caused new growth which is very MC distinctive with the warm tinges. I think they will even out for you in time. |

| Thanks. Hope you're right. Planting 60 shrubs and perennials over Memorial Day didn't leave me with a lot of energy with a do-over. |

| Wendy is probably right, altho your bottom plant looks exactly like my Neon Flash. How to tell the difference? This site says "Spirea Magic is a fairly low growing spirea cultivar that is somewhat similar in coloration to Neon Flash Spirea, but not quite as intense of a lime green color to the foliage in the spring." Your leaves look as intense lime as mine on my monitor. Michelle |
Here is a link that might be useful: Neon Flash
| The flowers are wrong for neon flash. Your bottom plant is Magic Carpet. I can't tell with the top one without the flowers. |
| taking a second look, they look to be planted too close together and way too close to the lawn edge. Even though MC is supposed to be a bit more compact than other spireas, it still gets big in time. Expect at least 3' wide. Of course, you can prune heavily to keep them smaller, but not as small as they are now. And you may not want that extra pruning chore all the time. |
| They are pretty big already--for some reason I had trouble locating younger plants. |
| that may be, but be prepared. They will still easily get 3x as big as they are now. |
| If they did that, they'd be 5-6' across. |
