flowering raspberry in a pot

this shrub is too invasive for my small garden, but i put a last sucker from mine (given to a friend in the country) in a pot and sank the pot in the ground last year. so far so good, but will this last? any ideas?

my experience with perennials and shrubs that are invasive by underground roots...

is that they will find the holes in the bottom of the pot ... and keep on going ...

some peeps use a pot in a pot... and keep lifting the inside pot to continually break any roots that try to escape ..

RE: flowering raspberry in a pot

Makes a difference whether it's a black or red raspberry. Black raspberries increase by their tips hitting the soil and setting roots. Red raspberries come up rampantly around the original plant in suckers.
