Opinions on the Conoy Viburnum

Does anyone have any experience with the Conoy Viburnum (Viburnum x burkwoodii 'Conoy')? I am considering planting some of these on the West side of my house. I have read that it prefers full sun and dry conditions and is drought tolerant. It's not supposed to have any problems with diseases or insects, but I thought I would get some opinions from people who may have had experience with this plant.

I'm not sure I'd agree it prefers full sun and dry conditions. It can certainly tolerate them but will be equally happy (if not more so) in evenly moist soils and with partial shade. Drought tolerance is something that comes with establishment in the landscape and is relative. I'd not expect that immediately after planting. And as with any other type of viburnum, prone to damage by both Japanese and viburnum beetles (if in your locale) and susceptible to verticillium wilt, powdery mildew, downy mildew and a number of other fungal issues.

Having said all that, I've yet to meet a viburnum I didn't like :-) And this one smells divine when in bloom.

I'd go so far as to say that I am absolutely sure it doesn't prefer full sun and dry conditions (especially together). As GG said, don't neglect it while it's getting started. Mine is growing on the southeast side of a wooded area, so it's sited entirely differently than you plan to site yours. I don't know that I can add anything about my experience with it that would apply to your application, except that it is beautiful.

Thanks for the information. I haven't purchased anything yet and haven't made up my mind as to how I will landscape this area of my yard. I'm in the "research" phase of my landscape project right now.
