I've found these to be very finicky and temperamental. Other weigelas do great..but these aren't great for me. Not a highly informative answer, I realize, but just wanted to share my experience. lol

Any chance you pruned it last Fall?

Actually no the one I had last year was small so I decided not to touch at all last year.

Recently I went over to a nearby plant farm and talked to an expert on these plants there. He told me if they were not blooming when I bought them and were not blooming at present that they would not bloom this year. But recently and presently with the high heat I started to water more heavily and lo and behold!! There is now some light flowering. I am shocked! Maybe I have not been watering these babies thorough enough.

I am now convinced my problem with this shrub is me and that I have been severely underwatering. I have read so much about not to overwater because of root rot and causing them to die on the spot that Ive severely underwatered.
