Making My Own Korean Dwarf Lilac Tree?

I have a Korean Dwarf Lilac bush, and I'd like to take a shot at using one of its branches to graft my own tree version. What trees can I use for this? Everywhere I look it just says "grafted onto a standard." But what specific tree am I supposed to use? Or can I use any kind?

You must use a root and stem of the genus Syringa (Lilac) to be compatable.

So which lilac do they graft it onto? I guess the Japanese Tree Lilac would be the obvious candidate.

Just found out that white ash is closely related enough to be used as a standard for lilac.
