 o
how does a boxwood grow?

I have a small boxwood that I want to grow into a little lollipop topiary. I want it to be 2 feet or so tall. If I trim it into a ball now, will the whole ball travel up or should I just be cutting off everything but the straightest stem and worry about the ball once it's at the height I want?

The ball will not travel up.

the trunks of trees ... expand in width .. NOT elongate ...

and since your a trying to make this shrub into a tree shape.. the rule applies ...

i am guessing a 5 year project ... an interesting project to many of us ...

but to others.. buy it in the shape you want.. for instant gratification ...

I've got plenty of patience... And plenty of other trees to hack on.

Thanks for the info!
