Annabelle Hydrangea taking a beating, any solution?

We have had downpours all summer. The blossoms were huge on the Annabelle this year, but the weight of the wet blooms have kept the branches on the ground. The last storm on Thursday night, was the proverbial straw. I don't think the branches are coming back up. At this point, I am considering cutting blossoms for indoors. Will the shrub put out more blooms if I deadhead it?

Thanks...

I bet you could wrap a bungee cord or two around it, maybe with a "splint" of some sort for stability & balance. You can then make sure the cords are hidden by the foliage & flowers.

ptilda, that's an excellent suggestion! I never think of those things for some reason. I will have to look around for
something to tie it up with. A little help from DH and I'm sure we can 'resurrect' it. :-) Not sure I have a bungee cord, but there must be something around here.

Thanks!
