| Hello Folks-
I'm a newbie here- I have this woody cutting from a large, mounding shrub that I need identification for. It has small 1 inch leaves & it loves a woodsey habitat & roots easily- it also has a lilac like scent- I'm in NC., zone 7b. any ideas? Thanks! kasha77 |

| It could be Weigela florida . |

| Maybe- but I think the leaves are thicker, waxier- does Weigela Florida have a scent? Thanks! kasha77 |

| It's hard to tell the scale of the plant in your picture. Can you measure the length and width of the leaves? |

| Sure! The length of the leaf is one and one half inch- the width is 3/4 inch....flowers are 1/2 inch long, 1/2 in wide, & have 5 petals.. thanks so much- I really appreciate your input! kasha77 |

| Well then perhaps it is Abelia, especially if it is blooming now (Weigela would've bloomed much earlier). In the link below, you can click on the pictures for a better look. |

| Yes! That's it! Thanks you so much! kasha77 |

| Absolutely abelia. The images, without something to gauge the size of the leaves makes it confusing, sometimes. Abelia is blooming heavily in my Northern Alabama, 7a location. |
