Hello Folks-
I'm a newbie here- I have this woody cutting from a large, mounding shrub that I need identification for. It has small 1 inch leaves & it loves a woodsey habitat & roots easily- it also has a lilac like scent- I'm in NC., zone 7b. any ideas?
Thanks!

It could be Weigela florida .

Maybe- but I think the leaves are thicker, waxier- does Weigela Florida have a scent?
Thanks!

It's hard to tell the scale of the plant in your picture. Can you measure the length and width of the leaves?

Sure! The length of the leaf is one and one half inch- the width is 3/4 inch....flowers are 1/2 inch long, 1/2 in wide, & have 5 petals.. thanks so much- I really appreciate your input!

Well then perhaps it is Abelia, especially if it is blooming now (Weigela would've bloomed much earlier).

In the link below, you can click on the pictures for a better look.

Here is a link that might be useful: Abelia

Absolutely abelia. The images, without something to gauge the size of the leaves makes it confusing, sometimes. Abelia is blooming heavily in my Northern Alabama, 7a location.
