I am looking for a dwarf shrub to go in front of some large miscanthus 'Cabaret' and was wondering if some dwarf barberry varieties would work.

Are there any smaller varieties then 'crimson pygmy'? The tags say 24" but mine get well over 3-4' if I don't prune them back twice a year.

I'm really looking for something VERY slow growing.
