GARDENING FOR BIRDSWild Birds Transform a Woman’s Garden and Life
How Sharon Sorenson created a wildlife haven and became the Bird Lady of Southern Indiana
Full StorySeveral years ago we planted some forsythia bushes at the edge of our yard to separate it from our neighbors yard and offer some privacy as we both have pools.
Our neighbors neglected their yard near the bushes allowing all kinds of weeds and wild shrubs to grow so that they became entangled into the forsythias.
Yesterday, I started cutting out all the vines and other obvious plants that I do not want, but there are a few bushes that seem to resemble the forsythia in size, configurations and leave shape.
My goal is to prune out the non-forsythias and clear out 2-3 feet behind them so this does not happen again. What is the best way to identify them, short of waiting for them to bloom next spring of course, when it will be obvious.
