Tiger Eyes Sumac Question

I would really like to have a Tiger Eyes Sumac but I don't know if it will survive my climate. I live in south central Texas and the summers get into the 100+ and we can get a few freezes in the winter. I have not seen this plant at Lowe's or HD which makes me wonder if it will grow here. Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks Mary

Big box stores offer an extremely limited selection. Do you see any other sumacs growing in yards near you? 'Bailtiger' is a type of staghorn sumac.

First, Lowe's or HD should be the last place you look for an indicator of whether something will grow there.

Second, our Sunset National Garden Book says it will grow there.

Try a decent nursery. And be aware that they sucker - not as aggressively as some others, but they do.
